19th Mar 2014 - Wishing Trees

A wish tree is an individual tree, usually distinguished by species, position or appearance, which is used as an object of wishes and offerings. Such trees are identified as possessing a special religious or spiritual value. By tradition, believers make votive offerings in order to gain from that nature spirit, saint or goddess fulfillment of a wish.

One of these trees - the Wishing Tree of Argyll - was a lone, wind-blasted hawthorn growing in the wilds of Argyll.

The wishing tree is a beautiful wedding day custom with Dutch origins. In lieu of signing a guest book, wedding guests are asked to write their wishes and greetings to the happy couple on wish tags. Guests then hang their wishes on the wedding tree using clips, hooks, or string.

Our white painted Manzanita branches make fabulous Wedding Trees or Wishing Trees.

The favourite colour for these trees is white or frosted, but maybe you would like to start a new trend or have a particular colour to match the theme colour of your event... contact us for details.

Please note, images are for display purposes only. The branches are natural manzanita and as such are all different in shape and size.
